Who are the men (angels) with stammering lips? November 30, 2007

Prophet Isaiah in Isa 28:11 said that God will speak to His people “with stammering lips and another tongue” in order to help them to gain knowledge and understand doctrine. The word stammering means foreign as Isaiah confirmed in chapter 33:19.

Paul repeated this prophecy when he said “in the law it is written, with men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people” (1Cr 14:21). The word tongues refer to foreign languages. He teaching the believers about speaking in tongues when they assembled together to worship.

There are some truths about tongues that we need to learn:

a. there are tongues or languages of men and languages of angels (1 Cor 13: 1). Angels speak in languages that are not generally known to humans except by revelation.

b. Paul taught us two important truths about tongues in 1 Cor 14. First, people who speak in tongues can speak in the languages of angels. He or she speaks mysteries to God with his/her spirit (1 Cor 14: 2). This would answer to Isaiah’s prophecy that God wants to teach humans knowledge and deep truths.

People can also speak in human languages that are unknown to them so that the secrets of the heart of the hearers will be revealed, causing them to glorify God. This happened on the Day of Pentecost when the disciples received the infilling with the Holy Spirit. They preached the gospel to the hearers who had come from other nations to worship God. These hearers were so amazed that these unlearned men and women were able to talk in their languages.

Tongues of angels/men of stammering lips

Angel speaks our language when they come to earth to give us instruction, direction or to instruct us on doctrine. We must remember that the angel comes originally from a place where the language is not familiar to earth, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy that God speaks to us through men of foreign languages.

Paul said that when we pray in tongues of angels/heavenly languages, we are really praying with our spirits and are receiving mysteries from God. What really goes on in the realm of the spirit? Are we sitting and talking with God, with angels? Ezekiel, Daniel and John the beloved spoke with angels when they were in the realm of the spirit. Did they speak in and understand the language of heaven?

NB: Jesus Himself  quoted this prophecy, but I cannot find the verse. If I recall correctly, He was chiding the Pharisees about their unbelief in His word. Did He mean that He was from a land where He spoke a language foreign to them? I will search diligently to find this text. Blessings!

Angels can change appearance November 29, 2007

Angels can change their appearance because they possess a spiritual body. This is a body that lives forever and cannot die. Paul talked about the spiritual body in 1 Corinthians 15 when he spoke about the kind of body that we will have when we are resurrected. Since Jesus said that we will be like the angels, the conclusion that one can safely make is that angels have this kind of body as well.

Here are characteristics of the spiritual body.

a. It changes appearance. For example, angels can appear like flaming fire (Psalm 104: 4)

b. It can travel through space and time and between heaven and earth. Angels ascended and descended to heaven in Jacob’s dream and Manoah and his wife saw the angel ascend to heaven in the smoke of their sacrifice (Judges 13: 2)

c. angels can work miracles like the angel that stirred the water of the pool, healing all those who stepped in first

d. can withstand temperature extremes like the angel who stood in the sun (Rev 19: 17). Jesus also appeared in the fire with Shadrach, Mesach and Abednego (having a party?).

e. can appear in dreams and visions like those in which angels gave Joseph instructions about Jesus.

Hope that you enjoyed. You can inherit this spiritual body by believing in the Lord Jesus.

Angels guide the way November 28, 2007

The bible is replete with examples showing that angels would guide people in the direction that they should follow. For example, angels must have guided Abraham as he journeyed to and in the land of promise. He revealed this when he sent his servant to get a wife for his son, telling him that the Lord would send His angel to guide him (Gen 24: 7). As Jacob ran away from home, he had a dream in which he saw angels walking up and down a ladder set up between heaven and earth. This indicated that he was going to be  blessed. When returning home, angels met him to assure him that God would protect him from his brother Esau.

An angel guided the Jews through the wilderness for 40 years, showing them exactly where to go. How would you know that angels are guiding you? Sometimes they give information about upcoming events that you should stay away from. They may speak in parables or speak as if referring to themselves. In other situations they may speak directly to your situation. Once I met a young man at a bus stop and he told me about a situation that helped me to avoid it at all costs when it did arise later. Wonderful angels.

Do angels worship with believers? November 27, 2007

You may be surprised to learn that angels attend worship services. That is why we must adhere to Paul’s admonition to remember to entertain strangers, since some people (in scriptures) have unknowingly entertained angels (Heb 13:2). There is a church in heaven which is comprised of angels and saints. Paul eloquently described this church in these words:

Hbr 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

Hbr 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect

John saw this church in Revelation and the intercession and worship that took place there. Isaiah got a glimpse in Isaiah 6. There are many more examples of worship in the heavenly assembly of the saints and angels and some of the examples can be found in Rev 4; 5: 8-14; 7: 11-12; 15: 11-17; 19: 1-7;. This worship is wonderful and involves singing, vocal declarations of the awesomeness of God, intercession for the saints, casting down of crowns, falling down on the face in front of the throne of God, waving of palm branches among other activities.

Chief Prince Gabriel attended a worship service in the earthly temple that was officiated by Zechariah the priest and revealed to him the impending birth of his son John the Baptist (Lk 1: 5-19). Zacharias was burning incense, which meant that he was interceding for the sins of the people. The people were praying in the courtyard while he burnt the incense. This created a wonderful atmosphere for God to reveal Himself. We learn in Rev 8: 3-4 that angels also offer incense in heaven, which he offered with the prayers of the saints.

Yes, angels do attend worship services on earth. You will recognize them if you know them in the spirit. Sometimes they color coordinate with each other and with their friends. Why do they come? To share the worship of the sinner saved by grace. They are attracted by the dimensions of our worship, ready to help the heirs of salvation. We love you angels. Blessings!

The angels who guard the subways November 26, 2007

It may be comforting for subway riders to know that there are angels in charge of the protection of the subways. As you ride the subways daily, make it a place of intercession, claiming protection, peace and safety. The psalmist said that “the angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psa 34:7). Blessings.

I dreamt that an angel called Inez was in charge of the earth’s rotation and therefore its seasonal changes. In the dream, I saw her sitting with the earth suspended in space in front of her. Just supposed that you wanted an extension of summer and a warmer winter, in what direction would Princess Inez tilt the earth.

The book of Revelation shows that angels have power over the elements:

Rev 7: 1- no wind

Rev 8: 5 – earthquakes

Rev 8: 7 – forest fires

Rev 14: 18 – an angel with power over fire

Angels have long range vision November 19, 2007

I was reminded of this when I recently read the story of Jesus telling Nathanael that He had seen him talking with Phillip under the fig tree (Jn 1: 45-49). Perhaps this story will help to illustrate. Two Saturdays ago I was waiting for a bus  when a middle aged lady joined me at the bus-stop. We both had our heads turned in the direction of the bus, anticipating its arrival. As we sat there, we chatted about this and that, then she started to tell me about a job interview that I had recently done and the reasons why one of the interviewers did not approve me. That is when I realized that she was an angel.

However, I saw this mystical power of her long range vision come into play when she
took one last look up the road as we spoke, then stood up. The bus came into view about two seconds later. How wonderful to have a friend who keeps your company and reassures you that you are not alone.

The angel that covered November 16, 2007

It was a terrible dream. She dreamt that she was asleep and trying to awaken from sleep in order to escape the awful odor of a gas in the room. She saw an angel standing three feet away from the bed and ran to him in the dream. After she did so, the angel lay across her back, covering her from the ribs up.

In the dream, she then saw a man approaching her with a long, narrow piece of steel in his hand. He came up to her, attempted to stab her in the back, but the angel flung him six feet away with an unseen power. The man returned twice in an attempt to stab her, but was unsuccessful because the angel flung him away with the unseen power each time he approached.

She finally was able to get up, delivered from her enemy who was now sitting with a vacant, blank look on his face. She tried to rouse him, but he appeared to be a figment of his former self.

This dream taught her that angels actually do cover and will not allow anyone to hurt her.

The angel said, “If you trouble her, you trouble me!” November 14, 2007

Last week I had a dream in which hundreds of people came up against me. As I stood there facing that crowd, Chief Prince Gabriel came up and said, “if you trouble her, you trouble me”. The people started to run and rather amusingly ran into each other. Next Jesus came up looking fierce and said, “if you trouble her, you trouble me”. There was another commotion. Finally, Chief Prince Michael came up in full battle regalia, looking terrible and fearful. You can imagine how the crowd panicked.

This dream gave me the wonderful reassurance that God was fighting for me. This is how He fights for His people, so be encouraged!
